Beaver

In the last several weeks one or more beavers have moved in and taken up abode at SHCM. The area they have chosen to cut trees is right by the lake between the girl’s cabins and the OcDoBall. They have started on (or completely dropped) 14 trees so far. If they would be working on the other side of the lake it would not be a big deal, but they have chosen the nice wooded area that we are trying to keep very nice. I thought it was neat to have beavers until they started to destroy the property.

I called the game protector and he suggested we put a fence around the area we would like to protect. I did put some wire around some crucial trees, but it is not practical to fence the entire area. Does anyone one have some good ideas to discourage the beaver from taking more trees?

2nd Winter Retreat

The deer we saw at Timberwind Lodge were not the highlight of the weekend, but they did add an extra element of excitement. We even had some doe trying to play with the balls. I thought the picture on this blog might catch your attention.
Although the weather was very different than the first winter retreat, we had an outstanding time together. Our Evangelist was Dan Brubaker. It was very exciting to have an evangelist that was called to preach at Servant’s Heart Camp. This is how Dan describes his call to preach – In God’s perfect timing, He placed Dan at Servant’s Heart Camp, where the games, preaching, and spiritual atmosphere made a difference on his life. On Friday, June 13, 2003, the preacher began by announcing the title to his message and Dan knew he would not be staying in his seat during the invitation. He offered himself for the Lord’s service to be used in whatever way He would be pleased. Ever since then, Dan has had a strong desire for the ministry of evangelism, and he believes that this is the direction God has for his life.
We had another exceptional retreat with great fun, games, fellowship, and preaching from God’s Word. It is super exciting to see young people making commitments for the Lord.
