Merry Christmas!

I look forward to Christmas. It is a wonderful time to spend time with friends and family. I am so very thankful for a family that loves and serves God. But Christmas is much more than spending time with family. It is a time to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Why, you may ask, do I need a Savior?

Because of my own personal sin, I violated God’s holiness. Because of that violation, I deserve eternal separation from God. Praise God that He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for that sin. Jesus took the form of a man, and He lived for 33 years without sin. He then died on the cross, and was buried in a cold dark tomb. Praise God, he rose again three days later. He took my punishment for sin. He provided life everlasting to all that would believe. I am thankful that at the age of six, I realized my lost condition and I accepted Jesus as my Savior.

In John 3 we have the story of Nicodemus coming to Jesus. Although Nicodemus was religious and believed in God and believed in Jesus, that was not enough. Jesus told Nicodemus “Ye must be born again.” Jesus quoted what is now the most known verse in the Bible to Nicodemus. And He (Jesus) makes that same offer to you. The verse in John 3:16 simply states – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Won’t you consider the real meaning of Christmas during this special time?
