Happy New Year! What do you think of when you hear someone talking about New Year’s resolutions? I often think of some lofty goals that are made around the first of January and are broken by the tenth of January. Because New Year’s resolutions are most often not kept, we tend to think that it is not a good thing to set some new goals at the beginning of each year. However, I think that January is a wonderful time to reflect upon what God has done for us and cautiously and prayerfully set goals for the New Year. Once you set a goal, be sure you are ready to make the necessary sacrifice to obtain what God has called you to do.

This past year, has been an outstanding year for SHCM – the first year on our new property. It was a miracle that we were able to have camp on the new property. God used many people to sacrifice in so many ways to make it happen. Not only were we able to have camp on the property, but God allowed us to see young people make some outstanding spiritual decisions. To God be the Glory!

In spite of the fact that it has been a long time since I blogged, many things are still happening at SHCM. Between Christmas and New Years, we started putting siding on the house. This week, the surveyors are on the property in preparation for the breech analysis on the lake. Today, they are checking the elevation of the living level of each home downstream to see if a break in the dam during flood conditions would cause the water to reach the living level of each home. Today, we also have a retired friend from Cavalry Independent Baptist Church working on various projects around the property.
We are also planning some new retreats for this coming fall. In the next few weeks, we should have a brochure ready for a men’s retreat, single’s retreat, and a family retreat.

Will you join me in making 2012 a Christ-honoring year?
