Where in the world is Pohnpei?

Pohnpei can be found due north of Australia's East coast slightly above the equator in the Micronesian Islands. It is a part of the Federal States of Micronesia. It is the one of the four states of the FSM and holds the capital in the city of Palikir. It is approximately 13 miles across, but this makes it the largest island in the FSM.

What is the main religion?

"The church has a respected and influential place in Pacific societies and FSM is no exception. Protestantism and Catholicism are the two major religions in Pohnpei (and FSM). The Catholic religion dominates Pohnpei Island (55 per cent of the population of Pohnpei Island) while the Protestant religion is dominant on the neighbouring island atolls (81 per cent of the population of those islands). Other religions constitute about 7 per cent of the population of the State."

What is the climate on the island?

Pohnpei is an extermely wet place. The largest town of Kolonia receives nearly 200 inches of rain a year. The central island receives as much as 400 inches a year. The temperature is between 70 and 90 degrees all year round.
