Oops or Romans 8:28

Yesterday (April 17), I was working on a cabin in preparation for the building inspector’s electrical inspection. With only a few hours of work, we could be ready for an electrical, plumbing, and framing inspection. As I was on a ladder on the outside of the cabin drilling the final hole for the large conduit to bring the main wiring into the cabin, the bit stopped turning and the big Milwaukee drill began turning. Before I could get my finger off the trigger, it hurled me to the ground. The pain gave me a hint that something was not quite right. My left arm was tucked neatly behind my back. When I tried to move my arm, my mind told me my arm was moving but nothing happened. Still lying on the ground, I reached around and pulled my arm to a more “normal” position. At that point, I called my wife and told her that I broke my arm. Since I had the car at the cabin, she ran and walked the ½ mile to the lake. At the lake she met one of our retired volunteers (Bob Jefferis), and he drove her the remaining distance to her distressed husband.

After a trip to the emergency room and another trip to the orthopedic doctor this morning, we learned that we have many reasons to praise God. It was a complete break in my upper arm (humerus), but it will not need surgery and the nerve that is sometimes damaged in this kind of injury was unharmed. In six to eight weeks, I should be good as new.

It was not according to my plans, but it was according to God’s perfect plan. Yes, Romans 8:28 is still in the book – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
