April Work Days

This past weekend was our scheduled April workdays. Throughout the weekend, we had groups from Anthony Baptist Church, Bible Baptist Church, Faith Bible Church, Grace Bible Church, and Steam Valley Bible Church. In a very unique way the Lord orchestrated the skills of the individuals in the groups to accomplish many needed tasks. The major tasks for the three days were to insulate the home, pour the concrete in the storage shed, put log siding on one cabin, and construct another cabin.

Many of the volunteers worked extremely hard to accomplish the many tasks. The conditions were less than ideal, and many of the jobs were not pleasant. Have you ever spent two days straight insulating? I suspect there are several people that would not care if they would never see another piece of insulation in their entire life. Because of the wet and rainy weather, the concrete would not dry. The faithful concrete family was not able to finish the concrete until about 2:00 AM.

Late Friday afternoon, Pastor Patterson from Bible Baptist Church stopped to see the camp property. When he saw the tents and rainy conditions, he offered some of his Sunday School rooms for sleeping on Friday evening. About 13 of the volunteers went to the church and stayed in Sunday School class rooms. It proved to be a very good choice. Friday night it rained heavily and a severe thunderstorm passed through the area about 4:30 AM.

Saturday, the sun came out and we had a beautiful day to finish our work weekend. If you would like to see pictures of the weekend click here.

A very special “thank you” to everyone that helped with the many work projects.

The next scheduled work days are May 5 – 7. We would love to have you join us. If you would like to come another time, please let us know. There is LOTS of work to be accomplished between now and summer camp.
